Hey Skyleaders,
In this article, we'll show you how to connect Skylead to your AI assistant to manage campaigns and configure AI SDR using natural language.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and access their features. With Skylead’s MCP connection, you can ask a compatible assistant to review campaign settings, create and edit drafts, or suggest AI SDR settings based on your company’s website.
This guide walks you through connecting Skylead to an AI assistant that supports MCP. Once connected, you can describe what you want to do—for example, “Review the steps in my campaign” or “Create a draft campaign with email and LinkedIn outreach”—and the assistant can use the available Skylead tools to carry out your request.
With Skylead connected, your AI assistant can:
- Review the settings and steps of existing campaigns.
- Create and edit draft campaigns, including email and LinkedIn steps, delays, branching conditions, and A/B variants.
- Configure personalization, select existing mailboxes and sending schedules, and enable open and click tracking.
- Validate and launch draft campaigns.
- Configure AI SDR or select existing settings.
- Research a company’s website and suggest AI SDR settings based on its content.
Before continuing with the setup, make sure you have Node.js and npm installed on your computer. If you don’t have them installed, follow the guide below to install Node.js and npm:
Install Node.js and npm
If you don’t already have Node.js and npm installed, follow these steps for Windows or macOS:
- Visit the Node.js download page.
- Select the version labeled LTS (Long-Term Support) and download the installer for your operating system: Windows Installer (.msi) or macOS Installer (.pkg).
- Open the downloaded file and follow the installation steps, keeping the default settings. npm is included with Node.js.
- Once the installation is complete, open Command Prompt on Windows or Terminal on macOS.
- Run these commands one at a time to check that both tools are installed:
node -v npm -v
If both commands display a version number, the installation is complete:
Restart your AI assistant before continuing with the MCP setup.
If you already have Node.js and npm installed, you can skip this step.
You can connect Skylead to any AI assistant that supports MCP. This guide provides setup examples for Codex, Claude, and Cursor.
1. Codex
Open the Codex desktop app and select Plugins in the sidebar. Click Add, then select Add MCP server to add the Skylead MCP connection.
This screen will appear and you have to add all the following info:
"skylead-mcp": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"mcp-remote@latest",
"https://mcp.skylead.io/sse",
"--header",
"x-api-key:${MCP_AUTH_HEADER}"
],
"env": {
"MCP_AUTH_HEADER": "Add your Skylead API Key"
}
}For Environment variables make sure to add your Skylead API key. You can find it here.
Once you add your API key, click on Save and that's it.
Once connected, your Skylead MCP server will look like this:
2. Claude
To connect your Claude to Skylead MCP server, navigate to Settings, then Developer and click on Edit config.
It will open the file claude_desktop_config. This will open your editor and you should paste Json code:
"skylead-mcp": {

"https://mcp.skylead.io/sse",
"--header",
"x-api-key:${MCP_AUTH_HEADER}"
],
"env": {
"MCP_AUTH_HEADER": "Your API Key"

}Just don't forget to add your API key from the platform. Once you finish it, it will be shown here:
3. Cursor

"--header",
