Hey Skyleaders! 👋
Connecting your LinkedIn account is one of the first steps before you can start using LinkedIn actions in your campaigns.
There are three ways to connect your account, depending on how you prefer to authenticate:
- Password & 2FA — recommended for the most stable connection
- Password only — quicker setup, but may require you to re-authenticate more often
- Connect manually — lets you log in directly through LinkedIn without providing your LinkedIn credentials to Skylead
Let’s go through each option.
Option 1: Password & 2FA — Recommended
Password & 2FA is the recommended connection method because it provides the most stable connection and usually requires less manual re-authentication over time.
From the Connect your LinkedIn account screen, select Password & 2FA.
1. Choose your proxy
First, select the country from which you normally access your LinkedIn account.
If your country isn't available, select the geographically closest option.
Click Next to continue.
2. Enter your LinkedIn account information
Select the LinkedIn subscription used by this account:
- LinkedIn Premium or Basic
- Sales Navigator
- LinkedIn Recruiter
Then enter your:
- LinkedIn email address
- LinkedIn password
- Confirmation password
Confirm that you have access to the email address connected to the LinkedIn account, as LinkedIn may send a security verification code there.
Click Next.
3. Set up the 2FA secret key
On the next screen, Skylead will ask for the Secret key from your LinkedIn two-factor authentication setup.
To find it, open LinkedIn and go to:
Profile picture → Settings & Privacy → Sign in & security → Two-factor authentication
Open Two-factor authentication and click Set up.
For this connection method, select Authenticator App as your authentication method and continue.
You can use Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or another authenticator app that supports this type of verification.

LinkedIn will then display a QR code together with an option to enter the authentication key manually.
Copy the manual secret key shown below the QR code.
Security tip: Keep your 2FA secret key private. Do not send it in emails, messages, or screenshots. Only enter it where required during your account connection setup.
4. Add the secret key to Skylead
Return to Skylead and paste the secret key into the Secret key field.
Once the key is successfully confirmed, you'll have to add 2FA code on LinkedIn from your Authenticator app. After you add it on LinkedIn, please add it on Skylead as well to finish the setup.
Complete the 2FA setup on LinkedIn, then return to Skylead and click Submit.
5. Wait for the account to connect
Skylead will now begin logging into the LinkedIn account.

You can keep the window open or select Close & work in background while the connection is being completed.
Once everything is ready, you'll see the Connected confirmation.

And that’s it — your LinkedIn account is ready to go. 🚀
What if my 2FA secret key changes?
In some cases, changes made to the LinkedIn account or its authentication setup may cause the 2FA secret key to change.
If the existing secret key no longer works, set up authenticator-based 2FA again on LinkedIn to generate a new key, then repeat the connection process in Skylead.
If you already have 2FA enabled but no longer have access to the original secret key, you may also need to reset the authenticator setup on LinkedIn before reconnecting.
Option 2: Password Only
The second option is Password only.
This method is simpler to set up because Skylead does not need to save your 2FA secret key. However, LinkedIn may ask you to re-authenticate more frequently.
Select Password only from the connection options.
1. Choose your proxy
Select the country from which the LinkedIn account is normally accessed.
Click Next.
2. Enter your account information
Select your LinkedIn subscription and enter your:
- LinkedIn email address
- LinkedIn password
- Confirmation password
Confirm that you have access to the email address associated with the account.
Click Submit to start the authentication process.
3. Complete any LinkedIn security checks
Skylead will start connecting to LinkedIn.

Depending on LinkedIn's security settings, additional verification may appear during this process.
For example, LinkedIn may ask for:
- A code from your authenticator app
- An SMS verification code
- A PIN verification code sent to your email
- An additional LinkedIn security check
Enter any requested code as soon as possible and follow the instructions shown on the screen.
If a LinkedIn security check prevents the connection from continuing normally, give it a few minutes to complete. If the account still doesn't connect, reach out to our Support team so we can check what happened.
Once authentication is completed successfully, you'll see the Connected screen.

Option 3: Connect Manually
If you prefer not to provide or save your LinkedIn password in Skylead, you can use the Connect manually option.
With this method, you'll log in directly through LinkedIn, and Skylead will detect the authenticated session.
Select Connect manually from the available connection methods.
1. Choose your proxy
Select the country from which you normally access the LinkedIn account.
Click Next.
2. Select your LinkedIn subscription
Choose the subscription associated with the account:
- LinkedIn Premium or Basic
- Sales Navigator
- LinkedIn Recruiter
Click Next.
3. Open LinkedIn
On the Manual login screen, click Try By Myself.
A new LinkedIn tab will open.
Skylead will wait while the LinkedIn login page loads.

Note: If the page doesn't load correctly, refresh it and repeat the process.
4. Log in directly to LinkedIn
Enter your LinkedIn credentials directly on LinkedIn, just as you normally would when signing in.
Then complete any verification steps requested by LinkedIn, such as 2FA, SMS verification, email verification, or another security check.
Skylead does not save your LinkedIn password or credentials when you use this connection method.
Once you're fully logged into LinkedIn, return to the Skylead connection screen.
The login should normally be detected automatically. If it isn't recognized after approximately 20–30 seconds, click Confirm login.
Once the session is detected, your account will be connected and ready to use.
A Few Tips for a Smooth Connection
Whichever method you use, make sure the information entered during the connection process matches the settings on your LinkedIn account.
Pay particular attention to:
- Your LinkedIn email and password
- The LinkedIn subscription selected in Skylead
- Your 2FA setup
- The secret key when using Password & 2FA
- Any verification codes requested by LinkedIn
Verification codes are time-sensitive, so enter them as soon as possible. Authenticator app codes typically refresh very quickly, while SMS and email verification codes usually remain valid for longer.
If a code expires, simply request or wait for a new one and try again.
For the most stable experience, we recommend using Password & 2FA whenever possible.
Happy connecting! 🚀
