How to connect your email with a Custom SMTP server

If you are reading this, then it must be that you decided to run an Email Outreach campaign.

Way to go!💪

Your first step to Email Automation is connecting your email, and you get to chose between:

  • Gmail
  • Outlook
  • A custom SMTP server

To find these integration options you would need to go to the settings tab and then click on Email integration

We are going to show you how to successfully connect your email via SMTP server in this short guide:

There are two ways to set up an SMTP server:

Gmail

Feel free to check out this video tutorial as you follow the steps below:

  1. Go to your Gmail inbox and open the settings (the little cogwheel icon)
  2. Click on “See All Settings”
  3. Go to “Forwarding and POP/IMAP”, enable POP and IMAP, and save changes
  4. After that’s done, you’ll have to go into your Google Account and enable access to less secure apps. The easiest way to navigate to that page is to click here.

If you have two-factor authentication enabled:

  1. Go to your Google Account security settings
  2. Click on the App passwords
  3. Select app - Mail
  4. Select device - Other
  5. Click on the Generate button
  6. Type the name of the service
  7. Copy the password provided when setting up the SMTP server instead of your standard password

Outlook

Feel free to check out this video tutorial as you follow the steps below:

  1. Go to your Outlook inbox and click on the account settings in the top right corner
  2. Click on the View all Outlook settings
  3. Navigate to the Sync email tab
  4. Check the Yes option under POP and IMAP

If you have two-factor authentication enabled:

  1. Go to profile settings -> top right corner and click on the My Microsoft Account
  2. In the main menu, click on Security and go to Advanced Security options
  3. Scroll down to App Password
  4. Click on Create new password
  5. Copy the password provided when setting up the SMTP server instead of your standard password

Now that that’s done, you can go ahead and connect your custom SMTP server to the platform.

Time to get that Email Outreach rolling! 🔥
